Silvertounged Sparrow's Spoutings

What is this?: A place to share my writing.  It started as a Poetry Blog in December of 2009, but it’s bound to have other things trickle in now that we’re hitting double digits.

Order of Litterature: Somewhat sequential order, give or take.  The more recent stuff is typically uploaded around the creation or final date.

More information: More samples of different type of work, such as studio artwork can be found at the link to the right, or www.wix.com/twodotproductions/hullabaloo-for-a-hodgepodge.

Layout: I use categories ie “Birdcalls” to organize my literature by finish date/year (unless it’s a WIP), give or take.  This is of course is a Whitman sense of finish, where I could still go back and edit something.  For the most part I try to leave my older stuff in it’s original form instead of editing since it represents and illuminates how I’ve changed over the years.

  • To see all my poetry, literally click on “poetry” in the sidebar.  That SHOULD be all of them.  :3
  • For a specific poem, search for the title or content.
  • You can look at my work in order of date posted if you wish, just click on the category or the calender date you would like to see.
  • If you want to see items in any other order, I believe you can figure it out.  Otherwise random clicking might end successfully.
  • If you  have any questions or concerns or comments, just say so!  Not just on my work, but anything.  Input is highly encouraged, or I wouldn’t have made this site in the first place.  Help me to grow, I appreciate it.

Background Info: I’ve been writing poetry since 3rd grade (see The Road to Freedom for the first poem I got published), and other genres since i could bite. It’s gotten me through.  Critiquing is welcome and encouraged; art is constantly in a stage of mutation. A mutable form of sound, sight, touch, interpreted differently by each individual. My grammar and spelling is atrocious, so bear with me. Thanks.

Warning: I’ve changed a lot over the years.  I’ve gone through phases where I liked to be cheesy and blunt or dark and depressing or just plain stubborn. As anyone would, my perception of things and my writers voice also is in flux.  There are things I notice, like my Freshman year; I didn’t write poems except for a summer class, before things hit hard.  That was a time of reconciliation for me, where my writers voice changed and I abruptly learned a lot about life.  I apologize to everyone, including myself, for not expressing myself and my thought processes during that year, but the truth is I was just too scared too.  Now I push myself to keep writing, no matter what’s going on in my head, because I know how important it is to keep bushwhacking until I can finally come to a mental clearing.

From me to you:  I need to make more time for expression, so don’t be afraid to cajole me if I haven’t written or uploaded anything in a while.  I won’t bite (no promises on that front).

i really like your poems ther so insiteful and personal. :) cant wait to read more of them.
i was wondering if these were actual real feelings or if you just made them up. cause i know i write poetry to vent about my feelings.

Poems are my way of expressing myself and finding a deeper meaning within things. they also allow me to step into other people’s shoes. So yes, they are very personal. My poetry is probably the purest form of who I am in a nutshell. They are the insights to my mind, the way I think, the way I feel. Through my poetry you can watch my thought process, my growth, virtually anything me. It’s what makes it os difficult for my to openly share my poetry. I feel like I’m judged whenever each of my poems are judged. They are a part of me, like my illegitimate children with their father Kokopelli. Poetry is a three dimensional form of expression. You have a limited amount of space to say a thousand things and ideas and ideals. Just like the mind. Poetry, at least for me, is multilayered, with multiple meanings within each line, sometimes even word. Expression. Poetry is my one true unaltered form of expression. I can manipulate said expression to other forms, but if you know how to look, the originality is still there. It’s just getting more difficult to interpret over the years. I’m getting better at guarding my pure primal instincts and using them for more powerful means. That’s what this log allows me to do, to grow, to learn, and to control. Not to suppress, or shut down, or forget, or push away. Expression really is the key for me here, not just a form of ventation, but I take it a step further. It’s a way to connect to other people, instead of only myself, and through other people not only teach but also learn and grow with them. Poetry really is one of the most powerful forms of literature because of how much it involves the audience, how raw it is, how exposed it leaves the writer, and how much energy it can create by drawing people together, and also forcing the writer to put themselves into someone else’s shoes so that said person can also identify and understand.
